Recently I hosted an informative Facebook Q&A with Boise Paper, where we shared organizational tips alongside productivity hacks and tools that you can utilize to have a neater and more productive workspace. It was a wonderful chat opportunity, and we got a lot of engagement and feedback from participants. Tip #1: System of Three

If you struggle with documents and physical files, use the “System of Three” to combat clutter! Go through every piece of paper in your office and either 1) shred it, 2) file it or 3) work on it.

Apply the same “System of Three” approach to your electronic files. What emails and files can you delete or file away? Create folders for each project, and make it a habit to automatically save appropriate files in the correct place right away.

Tip #2: Create an Ideal Workspace

Create a Printing Station near the office printer to keep all supplies close at hand. You can also use your wall space to hang shelves, filing systems, calendars and more.  There is so much more office space available when you go vertical.

Drab walls & poor lighting can drain your energy. Add natural elements to improve your workspace.

Tip #3: Be Proactive

To prevent procrastination, set a timer by your desk and give yourself mini-deadlines to accomplish tasks.

Also, it may sound obvious, but it’s so easy to overlook: keep the supplies and files you use most often within easy reach, while storing lesser-used items and files out of the way.

In addition, create a “For Review” box on your desk where colleagues know to place documents that require your attention.

Tip #4: Say No to Clutter
